Engineered marble is mostly resin. Engineered quartz is mostly stone. The names suggest the opposite.
Sintered stone contains no resin, which is why it takes a hot pan when quartz cannot. The trade is character.
One is quarried rock, the other is manufactured. The near-identical names cost buyers money every year.
Granite scores 6–7 on the Mohs scale, marble 3–4. That single gap explains the staining, the scratching and the sealing.

Cultured marble is about 75% polyester resin. Quartz is about 90% stone. That one difference explains the cost, the heat limits and how each fails.
