Sintered stone beats marble on every practical measure and loses on the only one people buy marble for. It is mineral powder fused under extreme heat and pressure with no resin at all — which is why it takes a hot pan directly, where engineered quartz scorches above about 300°F. It scores Mohs 7–8, is non-porous, needs no sealing, does not etch from wine or lemon, and is UV-stable enough for outdoor use. Marble is softer at Mohs 3–4, porous, etches on contact with acid, and needs sealing. What marble has is veining that is unique to your slab and depth that a printed surface cannot reproduce.

Why no resin changes everything
Engineered quartz is about 90% stone, but the polymer holding it together sets the limits: scorching above roughly 300°F, and discolouration under UV. Sintered stone removes the binder entirely — the minerals are fused to each other rather than glued.
That is the whole reason it can do things quartz cannot. It is also why it is more expensive and harder to cut, which is why fabricators charge more for it.
Where it genuinely beats marble
On a dining table it is not close. Sintered stone will not etch when someone puts down a glass of wine, will not stain from a spilled coffee, will not scratch from a dragged plate, and does not need sealing at any point in its life.
For an outdoor table it is the only sensible answer of the three. Marble weathers, quartz discolours, sintered stone is used as building cladding.
What you give up
Sintered stone patterns are printed and then fused. They are convincing and they repeat — two slabs of the same product look the same, and on a large surface the repeat can become visible.
Marble veining is a record of what happened to that specific piece of rock. If that is why you want marble, sintered stone is not a substitute at any price. If you wanted the look and assumed the performance came with it, it is the better buy.
